Brownell with the best wishes of the writer", with a pencil sketch below (of the author?). Laid in are two folded typescript MSS: 1. "Experimental and Spontaneous Food Increases Due to Psychic Factors", a "History showing Development of the Experiments" (2 single spaced 8 1/2" x 17" pages with a chart attached), when Haley was Haley was President of the California Psychical Research Society. The study addresses a long-speculated phenomenon, often cited by both skeptics and believers. 2. A very rough draft record of an experiment with a San Francisco dentist on "Expansion of Substance", with penciled corrections (7 pages 8 1/2" by 11", double-spaced. (From bookseller's memo in book): "It is not widely known that the multiplication of food is not confined to Jesus' miracle of the loaves and fishes...Even less known, even by students of parapsychology and the occult, are the incidents of food multiplication in modern times and that experimental work has been done in the attempt to establish the reality of the phenomenon".Haley's study went into a second edition (1960) which is now reprinted and available on on Amazon.
